Abbie and Kory are proof that love can be found in unexpected places.
For our videography clients, one of the things we like to do is sit down with couples separately and conduct brief interviews. During her interview, Abbie told me they had actually met on Tinder, “but if you ask him, he’ll say he saved me from an oncoming bus.” I confirmed this with Kory, who said, “Yep! You could say I swiped her right out of the way.”
Their gorgeous Abe and Jake’s autumn wedding was one of high class, with no detail forgotten. White pumpkins and clusters of grapes were placed on top of the rock features, the centerpieces and place cards utilized cork, and both the bridal party and groomsmen were decked out in rich shades of maroon. Abe & Jake’s had twinkle lights strung around the staircase, draped against the black curtain onstage, and across the ceiling, adding to the warmth and cozy ambience of the perfect crisp October day.
Abbie and Kory had a very traditional wedding; toasts, dances, cake cutting, bouquet and garter toss, all topped off with a sparkler exit. But, no first look! However, it was important to them that they share some time together before the ceremony, and it was one of the more emotionally charged moments that we got to be a part of.
Up to this point, both Abbie and Kory had the usual nervous energy that couples tend to have on their wedding day, but as they took each other’s hand from around the corner of the bridal suite, they visibly changed. Kory relaxed, smiling ever so slightly, while Abbie ran through a spectrum of emotions: first calm then breaking out into a dazzling smile of joy, then a quiet moment of realization that she was about to marry the man she loves, and then overcome with love, catching a tear with a tissue. Breaking away again to wait for the ceremony to begin, Kory walked a little taller and Abbie laughed as she dried another tear that was about to spill. They were ready.
The rest of their wedding day could not have been better. Kory waited with their daughter, Sophia, in front of the windows overlooking the Kansas River, and as Abbie and her dad appeared at the top of the staircase, Sophia’s face lit up as she exclaimed, “Mommy!” Abbie was a vision in her strapless white lace gown with train, and when she and Kory kissed, it could not have been more apparent that this was the joining of two people who are truly meant for each other.
