From the second we met Chrissy and Braden, we knew their wedding day was going to be a blast, and they didn’t disappoint!
Both alumni of the Marching Jayhawks, it was important to them that they include their KU band pride in their wedding. This is immediately apparent in their crimson and blue wedding details, like the colors they chose for the wedding party. Or Chrissy’s shoes, which were designed by one of her cousins and include their wedding date embroidered on them. They also chose Potter Lake as the location for their first look and wedding party photos, and planned a surprise appearance by Lawrence Bar Band at their reception.
As a couple, Chrissy and Braden complement each other perfectly. Braden is the more serious of the two with a dry sense of humor, and if you could mass-produce Chrissy’s energy, you could make a fortune. She is especially silly, with a penchant for goofy faces, genius ideas for photo ops (“’90’s boy band pose!”), and one of the most infectious laughs ever. She brings out pure joy in Braden, who just can’t help himself but grin at her antics.
For their summer wedding, they chose Abe and Jake’s Landing for both the ceremony and reception. As the sun made its descent, they exchanged vows on stage with their good friend as officiant. He opened the ceremony with a line from a Prince song, a nod to Chrissy’s family and friends who made the trip from Minnesota. The wedding deejays (from the same company where Braden worked during high school) surprised them by playing an iconic theme from Star Wars as they walked back down the aisle. And during the reception, members of Lawrence Bar Band (made up of former members of the KU marching band) came down the grand staircase, making their way to the stage to play songs that are familiar to anyone who has ever watched or attended a KU basketball game.
We only hope that the wedding guests had as much fun as we did!
To Chrissy and Braden: we wish you two the absolute best! Rock Chalk!
